"A Room Overlooking the Bell Tower, Immersed in the Historic Charm of Kyomachi Street"

Located at the entrance of the former main street Kyomachi-dōri, this guestroom offers a view that preserves the Edo-period townscape. From the window, you can see the historic Tokei Tower, which has marked the passage of time morning and evening since the Edo era. Beyond the townscape of Kyomachi Street, the setting sun casts a glow over the distant sea, creating a simple yet tranquil atmosphere for a peaceful stay.

This location also offers a prime view of the Yoi-no-Mai festival, held every June. During the event, the historic Kyomachi Street, once lined with merchant houses, is illuminated by the soft glow of bonbori paper lanterns. You can also witness the elegant procession of dancers performing the Aikawa Ondo, a traditional folk dance of Sado. Until August 25th, these lanterns light up the night, and multiple Gozen Odori performances—where dancers flow gracefully through the streets—are held. From the comfort of your room, you can enjoy this beautiful scene in a relaxed setting.

On the nights of Gozen Odori, you can watch the Aikawa Ondo dance procession directly from your guestroom window.

"A Room with a Low, Sloping 'Ship’s Hull Ceiling'—A Signature of Aikawa’s Traditional Homes"

From the first floor, you can see the muro, a storage room once used for preserving produce in this former greengrocer's building.

A compact yet cozy room awaits you on the second floor, accessed via an antique tansu-kaidan (chest-staircase) reminiscent of traditional row houses. The ceiling features a low, sloping design known as a funabote-tenjō ("ship’s hull ceiling"), a characteristic of historic Aikawa homes. The subdued interior design ensures a peaceful and unhurried atmosphere.

Start Your Morning with a Complimentary Breakfast

A complimentary breakfast is included in your stay. It is provided by a local delicatessen in the Tasha district of Sado. The meal consists of rice balls, side dishes, and miso soup—simple yet reminiscent of everyday life on Sado. The rice used is locally grown Koshihikari, and other ingredients are sourced from Sado or made in-house.

Guests can choose to have breakfast in their room or at "Kyomachi Chaya," our dedicated breakfast venue. While a short walk from the rooms, the breathtaking view from the venue is well worth the trip.
