The surrounding neighbourhood around kyuuka has a historical and rustic, yet relaxing and quiet charm. Despite its tranquility however, the neighbourhood still hosts many stylish cafes, bakeries, tea stalls, chocolate shops, and world renowned restaurants. All within walking distance from kyuuka. Nakatsu Castle, Goganji Temple, Fukuzawa Memorial Museum, Murakami Memorial Hospital Museum, Nakatsu City History Museum and many other historical sights and cultural attractions lay within the immediate surrounding neighbourhood. In late July, the centuries old Nakatsu Gion festival is held with the procession of the large Gion passing directly in front of kyuuka and some stopping directly in front to perform traditional dances and performances.
