HOKKOMA:
A Cozy and Relaxing Retreat, Limited to One Group Per Day —
Entire House Rental
Nestled in the vast caldera of Aso, HOKKOMA is a one-group-a-day private retreat that invites you to unwind in comfort and tranquility.
Renovated from an old single-story home built in the 1960s (Showa 40s era), HOKKOMA is located just a 2-minute walk from Takamori Station, the final stop on the Minamiaso Railway.
Within the station area, you’ll find a large bus terminal and taxi services. The Takamori Tourism Promotion Office also offers rental bicycles and rental cars. A post office and bank are within walking distance as well.
HOKKOMA is easily accessible by bus or train from both Kumamoto Station and Kumamoto Airport.
For a scenic journey, we recommend taking the Minamiaso Railway’s trolley train, which winds its way through the caldera to Takamori Station.

Takamori Station was renovated a year ago and is now known as a station with beautiful sunsets.
An evening stroll to watch the sun set behind the outer rim of the caldera is highly recommended.
As you step off the train and stroll through the retro Showa-era shopping street, you'll come across a renovated traditional home that now houses the charming café “Kissa Tenoha-an.”
