Oku-Tanba, located in central Hyogo Prefecture, is a convenient 1 hour and 30 minutes from the Hanshin area. Surrounded by idyllic countryside landscapes, it's known for specialties like black soybeans, Tamba chestnuts, and Amago fish, and offers activities like paragliding. In appreciation of nature's bounty, the private lodging 'Wood Villa SHIGURA' with its own sauna, stands on the grounds of the repurposed school facility 'FOREST DOOR'. It's an exclusive, one-group-per-day accommodation where guests can fully enjoy the warmth and healing effects of wood.

■ Private Sauna Area (YOKI SAUNA)

The YOKI SAUNA, a genuine barrel sauna emphasizing local production and consumption, stands beside the gymnasium, utilizing the wisteria trellis from our elementary school days.

Designed by a famous sauna enthusiast and award-winning designer, it features an original design. The beauty of Oku-Tanba's countryside landscapes is captured in this local wood-sourced sauna, with its logo representing circulation through four trees. This sustainable sauna experience is aptly named 'YOKI SAUNA'.

The scent of domestic hinoki cypress, sunlight filtering through small windows, and at night, this light transforms into moonlight, creating a space for reset and rejuvenation.

The 'toning(TOTONOI)' space, utilizing the wisteria trellis from our elementary school days, provides healing amidst the tranquil countryside scenery.

Enjoy the changing beauty of Tamba's four seasons and its stunning mountains. Bathing in the brilliant morning sun and marveling at the star-filled night sky completes the experience with an outdoor bath.

■ Open Wood Deck

Enjoy a fire pit and BBQ on a flame-resistant wood deck. This relaxing spot lets you soak in the natural light and breeze while overlooking the old school building and serene countryside landscapes. At night, it even offers a chance to gaze at a sky full of stars.

There's also an indoor deck for BBQ, rain or shine, featuring a sunken fire pit.

■ Experiencing the Warmth and Gratitude of Wood

We use Tamba region's unused wood as fuel for our wood stoves, wood boilers, fire pits, and sauna stoves, making it the energy source of our facility. Guests can fully experience the warmth and healing effects of wood, while also contributing to forest management and revitalization through the sustainable use of forest resources.

Hyogo Prefecture's Tamba City, with 75% of its area covered in forests, sees its forests as its greatest resource. Many of these man-made forests are due for logging, but insufficient thinning is a significant local issue.

At 'Wood Villa SHIGURA', a private rental lodging that allows guests to enjoy wood, we not only provide a relaxing experience but also aim to increase wood enthusiasts. Our goal is to promote the use of forest resources and contribute to the creation of a sustainable countryside environment.
