Nagaya is a Japanese traditional collective house
where several independent residences
are gathered in one building.
The Nagaya in Osaka, which has been home to many ordinary people and supported the merchant district since the Edo period.
In an era of mass consumption, where old things are constantly being replaced with new ones, we aim to transition to a time where we cherish and preserve the good old things while incorporating freshness.
With this vision in mind, we have restored a 100 years-old Nagaya and opened it as a rental accommodation under the name "CONTEXTED." Here, you can spend time living as if you are in Osaka's historic old town.
All three connected nagaya feature unique concepts and meticulously designed spaces. Each building can accommodate up to 7-8 people, making it ideal for families or larger groups.
By preserving elements of traditional Japanese architecture, such as beams and walls, while transforming the space with modern design, we aim to offer a refreshing break from everyday life and a source of inspiration.
Let me introduce the features of each of the three buildings.
The spacious and playful nagaya with a grand staircase, "Sora."
The large staircase, which extends all the way to the ceiling and occupies much of the room, serves as a table, a bench, and a cozy bedroom.
Sunlight pours into the open, airy space, allowing you to enjoy a spacious and playful atmosphere.
The shelter-like bedroom accessed via the grand staircase feels like a hidden retreat. Some have small windows, while others feature artwork on the walls.
In the garden, you can enjoy a beautifully shaped pine tree transplanted from a demolished house.
The nagaya with a unique, origami-like spatial structure, "Ten" (with an annex).
With a triangular base and layers stacked like origami, the structure creates a fascinating and unique space.
Each floor is divided into triangular spaces, creating private areas for 1-2 people, as well as versatile layouts suitable for larger groups.

A tranquil nagaya with a tea ceremony room and mural, "Gen."
Featuring a simple, wabi-sabi aesthetic and a tea room that feels like another world. The tea ceremony room, with its distinctive wooden lattice ceiling, can also be used as an extraordinary annex for up to two people.
A cozy living area like a hidden retreat, featuring a large table where up to eight people can comfortably chat and a spacious kitchen.
A standout feature is the artwork by artist Sync. Kudo, which depicts the changing world. The pieces can be enjoyed in each room.

The tatami room can accommodate up to three futons, making it popular with families and groups.
Additional Features (Common to All Three Properties)
The spacious kitchens are fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes, allowing you to enjoy a home-like experience. Nearby, you'll find takoyaki and okonomiyaki shops, as well as Koreatown and shopping streets. It’s a delight to explore Osaka's local flavors and ingredients and enjoy them at home.
The chic bathroom is stocked with bath towels and hand towels for your convenience.
The large screen projector offers unlimited Netflix access.
Complimentary coffee and green tea are available. Enjoy a moment of relaxation with a Nambu ironware teapot.
Relax in a Designer Nagaya villa
The advantage of renting an entire nagaya is the freedom to enjoy your time at your own pace without worrying about the surroundings. Ideal for couples, families, or groups of friends, the space accommodates up to 7-8 people.

Is the facility non-smoking?
All rooms are non-smoking. However, smoking is permitted in the courtyard. Please refrain from smoking near the entrance to avoid disturbing the neighbors.
Can we hold a party?
Hosting parties is not permitted at this facility. As the property is located in a residential area with the nature of a nagaya, sound can easily travel, so we kindly ask for your consideration to avoid disturbing the neighbors.
What happens if check-out is delayed?
If check-out is delayed, the cleaning staff will have to wait outside. Please adhere strictly to the check-out time. If a late check-out is necessary, an additional fee of ¥3,000 per hour will apply.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are not allowed on the premises.
What should I do for check-in?
We will send you the smart lock code via email three days before check-in.
Use by unregistered guests
Only registered guests may use the facility. If any violations of house rules are observed, you will be asked to leave immediately without a refund. Additionally, if the number of guests exceeds the reserved number, an additional fee of ¥20,000 per night plus bed fees will be charged.
Bed usage
We do not allow the use of more beds than the number of guests in the reservation. If it is discovered that additional beds have been used, you will be charged for the extra guests according to the number of additional beds used.
Cleaning
If additional cleaning or special tasks beyond standard cleaning are required, a cleaning fee of ¥10,000 will be charged.
Lost items
If any items are found, we will contact the guest as soon as possible. The items will be kept for one week, after which they will be discarded. Please note that a handling fee of ¥3,000 plus shipping costs will apply. For international shipping, please be aware that items containing batteries may not be able to be shipped.
