Ships brought the world to our shores. The winds of distant lands, memories of foreign places, and flavors never before tasted.
Among them were the Kitamaebune—trading vessels that braved the rough waters of the Sea of Japan. Selling and buying cargo at every port of call, these ships stitched the Japanese archipelago together from west to north, weaving a tapestry of commerce and culture.

In Komatsu City lies Ataka-machi, one of the bustling ports that flourished through this trade from the Edo to Meiji eras. Nestled within these historic streets stands "Okiya," a former residence of a powerful shipping agent.

Now, those layers of history have been gathered and rewoven through a modern lens. A new chapter begins here as "Ataka-no-Yado OKI".

Guest rooms retain the generous, soulful atmosphere of a mansion that once anchored Ataka’s prosperity. Exquisite Kutani ceramics color the earth-walled spaces, while delicate silks sway in the sea breeze. These are days spent amidst the accumulation of time and the authentic materials of this land.

Listen closely to the distant murmur of the tide, and lose yourself in a moment where the vast earth and living history meet.
