Minshuku Yagajiso was founded in 1975, a year when Okinawa was alive with the excitement of the Ocean Expo. While many accommodations opened during this time, few have remained in operation for over 40 years. This remarkable longevity was made possible by the dedication of its original owners and the unwavering support of returning guests.
“I don’t mind if it’s not profitable—I simply love running this inn.”
These were the heartfelt words of the former owner, who single-handedly managed the inn, as she once shared in a magazine interview.
Marking the 50th anniversary of its founding, Hotel Yagajiso has undergone a complete renewal in January 2025, seamlessly blending the warmth of its rich history with the comforts of modern luxury.

In the lobby and select guest rooms, floorboards once used as hallways in the days of Minshuku Yagajiso have been repurposed as wall panels. These timeworn materials, rich with history, have been given new life within a renewed space, offering a warm and welcoming embrace to all who visit.
The Story Behind Our Logo
Our logo features Ufuiishi, the sacred great stone that stands as a symbol of Sumuide. Since its founding in 1975, our establishment has remained at the foot of this revered site, and the logo serves as a timeless representation of its presence.
Designed with deep respect for the region’s history and natural heritage, this emblem reflects Hotel Yagajiso’s unwavering commitment to welcoming guests with the same enduring spirit for years to come.

These poetic lines, inscribed on a stone monument erected by the former owner at the entrance of the property, originate from an ancient Ryuka—traditional Okinawan verse—that celebrates the beauty of the Sumuide settlement.
Expressing the deep connection between the land, its culture, and its people, this poem captures the enduring charm of the region. Here, the timeless beauty of Sumuide continues to be preserved, unchanged by the passing years.

To reduce environmental impact, we do not provide daily room cleaning during multi-night stays. To ensure a comfortable stay for all guests, we kindly ask for your cooperation in the following areas: Noise Consideration Our hotel operates in a renovated historical building originally established in 1975. Due to the structure of the building, sound may carry easily. We kindly ask you to keep noise levels to a minimum, especially during nighttime hours, to ensure a pleasant stay for all guests. No Smoking Policy Smoking, including electronic cigarettes, is strictly prohibited throughout the entire property, including terraces and balconies. Additionally, there are no designated smoking areas within the hotel or its premises. Guests who wish to smoke are kindly requested to bring a portable ashtray and be mindful of the surroundings and other guests.

For the comfort and enjoyment of all our guests, our hotel welcomes guests aged 7 and above. We appreciate your kind understanding.
