Room name story
In the Meiji era, the wife of the 15th head of the family, Tsuyako, was a princess of the Tayasu-Tokugawa clan, and had her own room called the "Otsurunoma"(room of the crane). The name has been passed down in Shotokan for many years. The crane is a symbol of longevity and was a special animal for feudal lords.
