So that we may continue to preserve these 100-year-old buildings for the next 100 years and beyond, the buildings have been restored to their former grandiosity, providing our guests with the thoroughly unique experience of how the affluent lived in ancient Japan in an atmosphere of splendor, perfect for soothing the soul.

The refined and unadorned Suzaka culture and traditions from the time of the ancient Suzaka Doman that further evolved into prosperity during the Meiji era, are here for you to enjoy to your heart's content at Shirafuji.

Guest Room - Nationally registered tangible cultural property Western-style building

Time that is all your own away from the bustle of the city

Shirafuji was designated as a nationally registered cultural property in 2003.

In the late Meiji period, Dr. Maruta, a physician, and his family took over the estate and made the Japanese-style building their residence and the estern-style annex is what remains from the clinic that he built at that time.

It is an extremely unique estate featuring both a traditional Japanese-style residence and Western-style building on the same premises with access to each from the garden in the middle of the estate.

This plan gives guests exclusive use of the Western-style annex at Shirafuji.

Western-style building

There are two bedrooms

There is one king-sized bed and one queen-sized bed.

Based on our guest's wishes, the king-sized bed can be changed out for two single beds.

Built in the late-Meiji period when Suzaka prospered with the silk industry ,

this Western-style annex displays the intricate skills of the craftsmen at the time.

The detailed and careful design and the intricate plaster work in the ceilings, different in each room, is evidence of the skilled craftsmen who lived in Suzaka at the time.

Kitchen

The kitchen available for your use is equipped with kitchen utensils allowing you to prepare simple meals.

Cook with local ingredients in the provided kitchen.

If you so desire, in the bathroom you can enjoy a sake lees bath using sake lees from local Suzaka sake brewery, Endo Shuzo (additional charge).

The provided towels and pajamas are soft to the touch.
