#A guesthouse where you can feel the starry sky and the sea breeze of Chichijima　

In March 2026, we took over the management from the previous owner and reopened "Fudo no Ie TETSUYA" after a renovation.

Near the guesthouse is "Kominato Beach," where you can enjoy a sense of openness as if you were on a private beach.

Furthermore, at night you can see one of Chichijima's most spectacular starry skies.

The sky feels so close, it's as if you're being drawn into it.

# Consideration for the Natural Environment

The newly renovated TETSUYA rooms are designed with a deep respect for the beautiful natural environment of Ogasawara, just as before. The rooms feature an open and airy design using numerous natural materials.

All the interior walls are coated with plaster, applied by skilled craftsmen. This helps prevent the walls from becoming too hot under Ogasawara's intense summer sun, thereby keeping the indoor temperature lower. As a result, the use of air conditioning is minimized, reducing the environmental impact.

Furthermore, to reduce the environmental impact of plastic products, which has become a significant issue recently, we have discontinued providing plastic bottled drinks in the refrigerators in our rooms. Instead, we offer original water bottles. Guests can freely use the installed water dispensers in the dining area to fill their bottles.

Since our opening, we have been using products from "Matsuyama Co." for shampoo, body soap, and conditioner used by our guests during bath time. "Matsuyama Co." has a long-standing commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.

We provide shampoos and other products that are gentle on both the environment and the skin.

# From Old Tetsuya to New TETSUYA

“Actually… at the place I'm staying now, I haven't really had the chance to taste the island's local ingredients… I wish there were a place where I could enjoy the delicious flavors of the island…”

Around the fourth year since the owner, captivated by the charm of the island, quit his job in Tokyo and started working at an established sushi and kappo restaurant on the island, he overheard these words from a customer at the counter.

"Someday, I would like to run a place where tourists visiting this area can enjoy meals made with local ingredients..."

With this desire in his heart, "Kutsurogi no Yado Tetsuya" was born in February 2006.

For 16 years, Tetsuya has continued with the support of its guests. However, through the COVID pandemic, the owner sensed changing and increasing needs from guests regarding their stays. Aiming to be an inn that becomes a "destination of the journey", and as the culmination of the owner's own efforts, the decision was made to renovate.

＃Enjoying Pristine Nature All by Yourself

Kominato Beach just a few minutes away from TETSUYA

TETSUYA is located at the southern tip of the island, about a 10-minute drive from the center. Because it is a bit distant from the town, the nearby Kominato Beach feels like a private beach. One of the joys here is having the incredibly clear sea and blue sky all to yourself.

＃What is Ogasawara Like?

Access to Ogasawara is only available via the "Ogasawara Maru" ferry, which operates once a week. After a 24-hour boat journey, you will be welcomed into a world of Bonin Blue that is hard to believe is still part of Tokyo.

Tickets for the regular Ogasawara Maru ferry go on sale typically two months prior to the boarding date, so please apply through the operating company, Ogasawara Kise.
